We are out of scale with the world we are given

Imposition

We seem accepting of the structured edifices that reshape our landscape and which determine us: the railings that keep us out yet scar our vision or the railings removed from our terraced houses in the war; the roads that blast their way through places we used to know; the industries that leave their mess behind them when they go or those that impose alien structures in the name of growth or security; the national flags that own our streets.

Imposition is an outcome of uncaring, insipid, invidious acts, whether intended, incidental, inevitable, or unknown. Imposition reflects a sense of social erosion and powerlessness.

Abstract landscape painting depicting roads or paths intersecting in a rural area, with fields and hills in the background, using monochromatic tones with some hints of color.
