Cricket Club
Cricket Club is part of a collection called Passing Places. I took the photograph in Holmfirth, West Yorkshire, on an evening walk in April 2026.
Passing Places drew my attention to significant ‘unplaces’ - liminal places, like steps and stairwells, which can nevertheless be sites of intimate encounter. The red paint has been renewed many times, suggesting that this dark place may have secrets to hide, yet the proprietors are keen to maintain their stewardship. The stairs lead into the back of the Cricket Club house - a social site. How does the front of the building relate to its darker side?
Printed on Hahnemühle Photo Rag Baryta.
Print image size: 44.5 x 25 cm
Natural white passe-partout 7cm surround on all sides,
Outer size matt black wood frame: 62.2 x 42.7 cm
The print is part of a limited edition of 25 and comes with signed certificate of authentication.
