Hamburg Carpark

£180.00

Hamburg Carpark falls into my Auto World category. I took the photograph in Hamburg, Germany in September 2020.

Like people ‘attached to’ (riding) horses, the modern world is populated by incongruous situations - driving cars inside buildings is another one. It always feels a little strange to me.

I am greatly attracted by carparks. They present the ‘no frills’ side of modern urban life. This carpark is one of a relatively new breed - the walls are painted cosy pink and a graphic artist has been paid to dress up the facility. This allows the parking rates to be hiked, reflecting the quality of the establishment. Do you ever feel you’re being conned?! Then again, carparks are inherently dodgy places - ill-lit, quiet until an engine springs to life or tyres screach on the concrete ramps. They are sites of end-of-the night squabbles, dank urine-splashed corners, and security cameras.

Printed on Hahnemühle Photo Rag Baryta.

Print image size: 44.5 x 25 cm

Natural white passe-partout 7cm surround on all sides,

Outer size matt black wood frame: 62.2 x 42.7 cm

The print is part of a limited edition of 25 and comes with signed certificate of authentication.
